Under 16B Hurling Championship
Banner GAA Ennis 1:16
Wolfe Tones 3:07
The Banner and Wolfe Tones played out a very entertaining match in damp conditions in the Banner on Sunday morning. The home side had the better of the early exchanges and led by 4 points after 10 mins. Wolfe Tones then scored a goal which made the game a very tight affair for the remainder of the match. The Banner edged ahead again only for Wolfe Tones to score another goal and narrow the deficit. The half time score was The Banner 0:09 v Wolfe Tones 2:00, with it all to play for in the second half. The Banner scored the first 2 points of the second half, with Wolfe Tones tagging on the next two, and again the pattern of the second half followed the first. Mid way through the second half, Wolfe Tones struck for a third goal, putting them 2 points clear. Credit to our boys, they never panicked, with Shane Meehan on fire and directing the show. The switch of placing Sultan Akinwale to full forward paid off with Sultan scoring the decisive goal to clinch the game for the Ennis side. The boys have now qualified from their group for the knock out stages of the Championship. Congrats and Well Done on great progress to date.
