In a thrilling finish to this championship game in Gurteen this evening , our adult hurlers snatched victory from the jaws of defeat to secure a championship Quarter Final spot , following the example of our footballers last week in  reaching the same stage of the competition. St Joseph’s were warm favourites in this tie but in the dying moments the Banner were awarded a penalty and Johnny Martin  stepped up and calmly shook the net when a goal was required . There was jubilation at the final whistle. This is a great win for the players , management and the club asa a whole to have both our hurling and football teams in the quarter finals of their respective championships , having both been only just promoted having both won their championships last year in the lower division.
