The Banner GAA Ennis 1-14
Newmarket on Fergus 1-05
The Banner Ennis U16 hurlers faced their 3rd away game last night in Newmarket on Fergus. Playing with the aid of a breeze in the first half, the lads took advantage to tag on the points. Our defence was rock solid, and with both Tom O'Connell and Thomas Meenaghan outstanding at midfield, it helped set up attack after attack with Aaron Kelly and Joe Murphy causing havoc everytime the ball went into them. At the break the score was 1:08 v 0:01 to the Banner. Facing into the wind for the second half, the lads knew thew would have to battle hard for the rest of the game, and no matter how hard Newmarket tried, time after time each attack was repelled. There were heros all over the pitch, and special mention to Justin McGrath in the Banner goal who excelled throughout, and our backs were outstanding especially Niall Walsh. Our County minor Shane Meehan was unable to start due to injury but came on in the second half and played well despite carrying a serious knoeck. Final score 1:14 v 1:05. Well done lads, now unbeaten after 4 games. Best of luck in the remaining matches.
