Result under 16B Championship Quarter Final

Banner GAA , Ennis 0-14

Eire Og                   0-13

in a thrilling quarter final played out at the Banner’s home pitch this morning , the Banner finished one point winners over local rivals Eire Og. Eire Og played with the breeze in the first half and at half time lead by 0-10 to 0-05 , with the Banner staying in touch due to mainly scores from frees hit by Shane Meehan. The Banner started the second half strongly and quickly knocked over 4 points without reply. At the half way point in the second half it was 11 points each and it was tit for tat all the way to the end with the Banner managing to keep edging one point clear throughout the final quarter. The Banner half back line of Sultan , Conor MacMahon and Oisin MacMahon were tremendous in the second half and with Donagh Cullinan, Niall Walsh and Andrew Vaughan covering strongly behind them , there was great leadership coming from the defense and in truth there were heroes all over the pitch too many to name them all!! In the dying moments there was high drama as the referee awarded a penalty to Eire Og . Eire Og opted to go for the goal but a great save denied them the chance and seconds later the referee blew the final whistle . The lads are now through to the semi final of the Championship.  Well done players and management . A fantastic weekend for hurling in the club on the back of our Junior team qualifying for the championship final last evening . The Banner Ennis abu.
